I bought a copy of The Cabaret of Plants entirely on a whim because of the cover and it is terrific.

I agree about the dispiriting bare earth school of gardening. More is more as far as i"m concerned.

I love the Durer, thank you for reminding me of it. And I agree, plants in the margins are a real bonus and it's fascinating to watch them move about. Have you noticed the very pretty spring tide of Danish scurvygrass on roadsides and central reservations?
