I never read Pollyanna as a child, so came to the glad game very late. I'm not sure I could cast getting crutches for Christmas in a positive light, and I don't think I could play the glad game all day, every day, but a little gladness about what you have got, rather than what you haven't, rarely goes amiss.
Today I'm glad we have a few tulips. I didn't expect very many at all - just a few stalwart repeaters and a several small species tulips which have settled in the garden. But this morning I managed to pick a whole bunch, probably the only decent-size bunch of the season, but a bunch nevertheless.
Then again, being a pessimist (or realist, I prefer to say) rather than a Pollyanna means life does offer quite a few unexpected bonuses.
