Oh yes yes I love a good portrait! Especially one that glows out from a dark background. We go to see the Archibald Prize each year in Melbourne.

I'm looking forward to reading back over your posts. Lovely to find your blog!

Such good news. How lovely for Preston that you have written about their treasures. Pauline in her yellow dress would be worth visiting them for alone! If I was in Britain i could think of nothing better than following in your footsteps around the provincial galleries. I will do this eventually but in the meantime will visit the closest provincial NZ gallery but with Grand Provincial Tour eyes.

Really looking forward to this year's Two Temple Place Exhibition - items from collections garnered by industrialists in the north west during the cotton boom years. http://www.twotempleplace.org/exhibitions/current/ Last year's exhibition of items from Cambridge museums was so good and the volunteer invigiliators there very welcoming and well informed. This, as a recent visit to the Jewish Museum in Camden highlighted, can add much to any visit.
